4th of July Scavenger Hunt

4th of July Scavenger Hunt

Things will definitely look a little different this 4th of July.  In our area, all the firework shows have been cancelled.  Therefore, if you typically host a party, you may find yourself with a little extra time.  I have to admit, I am a little bummed.  I love fireworks and there is always something magical about the fireworks booming high in the sky and the colors reflecting onto everyone’s faces.  However, even if the official firework shows are cancelled, the celebrations will go on!  This year, I plan to have a 4th of July scavenger hunt for the kids!  It is perfect for younger kids and older kids alike.  While my oldest may deny his interest, he’s competitive, so I know when we yell go…he’ll be off and searching with the rest of them!

4th of July Games

Kids always love a scavenger hunt and really, they are quite easy to set up.  Here is what you’ll need:

Flag

Hot dog (real or plastic will work)

Star

Statue of Liberty

Sparklers

Patriotic Sign *if you download the Scavenger Hunt…you’ll get the Land that I Love printable as well!

Sunglasses

Glow Bracelets

Hat

Most of these items you can grab with a quick trip to the dollar store.

Setting Up The Scavenger Hunt

Determine your boundaries first, and then place items around the yard.  You can determine how easy or difficult the items will be to find.

Once the items are all placed in the yard, then hand out a scavenger hunt sheet to each participant.

To make it easier to write on, you can purchase clipboards and tie a pen onto the clipboard with a string.

The kids will have a blast running around and finding everything!

Another fun twist would be to buy enough items for everyone to put on what they find!  So at the end of the scavenger hunt everyone would be wearing all the items in one way or another (they might have to be creative with how to wear the sign and statue of liberty)!
