Easy School Lunches To Make Ahead

Easy School Lunches To Make Ahead

It’s May….by now we have been making school lunches for 8 months and well our creativity and our will power to make lunches has vanished!  I like to make the lunches in the evening, as I find it helps the mornings run easier.  However, yes it is the end of the school year and I find myself making more and more lunches in the mornings.

One thing that has really helped me is to prep the lunches ahead of time!  It really doesn’t take much extra time and at night when I am tired, it feels amazing to have everything ready and just the ease of grabbing a few bags and putting them into their lunches.

So Here Is What I Do:

Prep Sandwiches Ahead of Time

If you are going to make one sandwich, you might as well make 5 for each day of the week.  It makes me so happy to look in the fridge and already have sandwiches made! Plus my hands don’t smell like ham every night of the week.

Prep Fruit and Snacks Into Baggies

If you buy large bags of crackers or pretzels or even have a huge bunch of grapes, it takes extra time to pack them each day.  Instead, take a minute during the day and prep multiple bags at once.

They are much easier to grab. It comes in handy for other areas too. If your kids need a quick snack before a baseball or soccer game, you are all set to go.

In addition to prepping baggies, I also rip all the cheese sticks apart so they are easier to grab.  Sometimes it is hard to pull them out of the packages without ripping the seal (especially since I buy them in large bags from Costco).  I try to make lunches easier from all aspects!

Keep The Drinks In The Fridge

Nothing is more frustrating then needing a fruit drink, especially in the morning and it is all wrapped up in plastic and you are wrestling with the packaging to get one out.  I buy them in bulk at Costco…so if you don’t, it’s OK if you don’t understand my frustration.

The other thing, if I forget to make lunches at night…I hate sending them with a warm drink to school.  To solve this problem, I started keeping them in the fridge.  I organized them in bins I found at the dollar store!  They are so easy to grab and if I need to pack a lunch in the morning or want to grab fruit drinks to go to the park….they are cold and ready.

It really is as simple as it sounds!  For me, just the ease of knowing everything is already prepared is totally worth it!!

No Lunch Is Complete Without A Special Note!

OK, my special notes have kinda of come to a halt with the busyness of spring.  So I decided to make a cute printable to help get back on track!  My kids are so precious to me and I need to make sure they know it.  Especially, as school is nearing it’s end and they are getting tired.  A little note might bring a smile to their face.

Even though my youngest is at home for preschool (I use a homeschooling curriculum), she still loves getting a special note with her lunch!
