Kids Valentine Message Board

Love is in the air!  Valentine’s day is soon approaching and everywhere you look you see flowers and hearts.

My husband and I love to make this holiday special for our kids too.  Kyle always takes my son out shopping.  My son buys flowers for his sisters, and Kyle buys flowers for me.  It is so cute to see my son giving flowers to my daughters, they absolutely love it.  I mean a boy is never too young to learn the art of buying flowers, right?

I also like to put a gift together for the kids beyond just flowers.  It’s nothing fancy, but something to make the day special.  Most times the best gifts don’t necessarily cost a lot.

For instance, I spend most of my days bopping around with my darling 4 year old.  Even though most of our days are running errands or getting groceries, it is all the little moments that are so special.  The same with little notes.  I love putting little notes in their lunch boxes or on their pillow.

For valentine’s day, I wanted to make message boards for them to put on their bedroom doors.  I thought it would be a fun little way to leave messages for them.

Making Message Boards

To start, I knew I wanted to use magnetic words.  I have always loved these!  They are fun and mess free…no chalk falling on the hallway carpet.

Next I needed something magnetic to stick them to.  My daughter and I walked around Hobby Lobby and found these great galvanized signs (they only had 2, so I still need to buy one more to finish my third sign.)

To decorate the signs, I thought about getting one big letter as a monogram, but found these cute little wood painted shapes instead.  The store had three shelves filled with all different kinds of shapes, so many cute ones to choose from.

I added a little tacky glue to the back of each shape and placed them on the sign.

To personalize them, I bought foam stickers to write out their names.

I had the signs done in probably 10 minutes, they were so easy to make!  I love how they turned out and can’t wait to give them to my kids on Valentine’s day.

At Hobby Lobby the galvanized signs were only a few dollars and the wood painted shapes less than $1 each.  This craft is not only easy, but budget friendly too.  The perfect gift for your kids!   Thanks so much for checking out my post!
